SatLabs Group
SatNet has been an active member of SatLabs since its inception. SatNet's terminal product has SatLabs certification, and our system implementation operates in accordance with the SatLabs System Recommendations. Further, SatNet guarantees interoperability of its hub with any vendor's terminal that has SatLabs certification.
In addition, SatLabs defines interoperability standards that complement DVB-RCS, in particular for higher-layer aspects such as Quality of Service, Performance Enhancing Proxies and Management and Control of terminals.

The system recommendations from SatLabs are based on the DVB-RCS Specifications and the DVB-RCS Guidelines from ETSI. The latest version of the system recommendations, version 2, expands the previous scope to include interoperable QoS and harmonized management and control functionality; it also includes Interoperable Performance Enhancement Proxy (iPEP)], defining the PEP option, and HTTP pre-fetching, defining the HTTP option; finally, it defines terminal profiles for the support of both DVB-S and DVB-S2, including Constant Coding and Modulation (CCM), and Variable Coding and Modulation/Adaptive Coding and Modulation (VCM/ACM). The SatLabs System Recommendations also include requirements for the terminal certification.

  • DVB-RCS Standard: ETSI EN 301 790 v.1.4.1, "Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB); Interaction channel for satellite distribution systems" (2005-09);
    Version 2 of the standard is expected to be publicly released in 2007 based on the SatLabs system recommendations.
  • DVB-RCS Guidelines: ETSI TR 101 790 v1.3.1, "Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB); Interaction channel for Satellite Distribution Systems; Guidelines for the use of EN 301 790" (2006-09)
Other Useful Documents (available on the SatLabs or ETSI websites):

  • ETSI EN 300 468 v1.7.1, "Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB); Specification for Service Information (SI) in DVB systems" (2006-05)
  • ETSI EN 302 307 v1.1.2: "Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB); Second generation framing structure, channel coding and modulation systems for Broadcasting, Interactive Services, News Gathering and other broadband satellite applications" (2006-06)
  • ETSI TR 102 376 v1.1.1: "Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB); User guidelines for the second generation system for Broadcasting, Interactive Services, News Gathering and other broadband satellite applications (DVB-S2)" (2005-02)
